Abstract:Body language refers to all the communicative actions beyond language. Body language is so important that it often determines whether human interaction can be achieved successfully or not. Likewise, teacher’s body language is also important in the whole teaching process. It’s easy to convey teacher’s thoughts, arouse student’s interest and attract student’s attention. Thus it can make the class lively. A famous scholar Cooper holds that if the teacher knows how to make nonverbal communication more efficiently, the relationship between teacher and students will be improved, and the recognitive ability and learning efficiency of the students will also be developed.

   This paper aims to provide readers of some certain gestures in college English teaching class. Teacher’s facial expression, eye contact, hand gesture, appearance,etc. play an important role in the teaching process. Meanwhile, student’s nonverbal behaviors are the direct information to the teacher showing that whether the talk is success or not. Through this dissertation, both teachers and students can know more about body languages in class, so they can have a better understanding with each others so as to improve the quality of classroom teaching.

摘 要:身体语言是指语言行为以外的所有交际行为。身体语言有着举足轻重的地位,有时甚至决定人类互动中的成功或失败。同时,教师的身体语言在整个教学进程中也是十分重要的。善用身体语言能够使教师容易传递思想、引起学生学习兴趣和吸引学生的注意力。进而使得课堂更加生动活跃。一个著名学者库珀认为,教师如果学会如何在课堂上更有效地运用非语言交际,师生间的关系就会得到更进一步的改善,学生的认知能力和学习效率也会提高。

   本文致力于介绍一些大学英语课堂中的身体语言及其应用与影响。教师的面部表情、眼神、手势语、外貌等都在教学进程中扮演重要的角色。同时,学生的非语言行为也能直接地反映出教师的讲学是否成功。通过本文,教师和学生都能知道更多课堂上的身体语言所表达的含义,彼此间能更清楚读懂大家的意思,达到提高教学质量的目标。
