Abstract: Business negotiating is a complex economic activity, which plays an important role in domestic and international trade. Based on the research of former researchers, the paper conducts a survey and makes a thorough analysis of compliments in Chinese-American business negotiations from aspects of linguistic forms, compliment topics and compliment responses between Chinese and Americans. By analyzing the results of the survey based on Manes and Wolfson's research, the paper discloses the similarities and the differences in using compliments from Chinese and American parties.

摘要：商务谈判是一项复杂的经济活动，无论是在国内或国际贸易中都起到了十分重要的作用。本文在前人研究的基础上，采用调查这种研究方式，以商务谈判中英语恭维语为研究对象，对商务谈判中英语恭维语的语言形态，话题类型，以及对恭维语的应答等进行了归类与分析。通过分析调查的结果，本文揭示了中美谈判双方在英文恭维语使用方面的相似性和差异性。
