译者选取本书的第15,16章节进行翻译。
从内容上看，第15章节主要讲述的是艾米的母亲突然造访艾米家。从对话中，隐藏着艾米与母亲的争执，反映出艾米对现在生活的厌倦，急于想要做出改变，逃离现状。第16章节主要讲述的是艾米接到老板的电话以及与母亲朋友的聚会。在聚会上，艾米提出想要重新找工作的想法。但其他母亲表达了两种截然不同的感受。正是这种冲突，从侧面显示出艾米的内心矛盾。一方面想要做出改变，但另一方面又害怕做出改变。最终，艾米决定改变，重新回到工作岗位。
INTRODUCTION
The Rise and Fall of Yummy Mummy is a masterpiece of British woman writer Polly Williams. Throughout the book, it is the description of the physiological, mental and environmental changes Amy is facing after having the baby. Before that, she was very confident, had her own career and was very hopeful for the future. But after the baby, Amy is scared of being fat and she is not energetic like before because she needs to take care of her daughter. As the time goes on, she has been reduced to the same woman who was lacking in youthful vigor. At the same time, the physiological changes influence her mental health and she begins to lose confidence, even suspects that her husband is cheating on her. After noticing the change in a sober way, Amy began to think about everything around her calmly, re-examine her life situation, and makes efforts to finally transform her life.
The translator chose 15th and 16th chapter of this book to translate. From the content point of view, the 15th chapter is mainly about Amy’s mother who makes a sudden visit to her house. Their conversation expresses Amy and her mother's disagreement, reflecting that she feels tired of life and wants to make a change. In the 16th chapter Amy goes to a party where she meets many people with kids. At the party, Amy contemplates the idea of finding a job. But her friends have two completely different opinions. From the different ideas, it shows Amy’s inner conflict. On the one hand, she wants to make a change, but on the other hand she is scared to make a change. Finally, Amy decides to change and go back to work.
