Abstract

 

With the development of the technology, our country communicates with different countries in the world. Learning English should become more efficient and convenient. The obstacles of vocabulary learning is difficult for students to study well. The main task for educators to do is how to help students learn English actively. On the one hand, doing vocabulary exercises in class is an effective method to test whether students have grasped the knowledge, and an indispensible part of teaching process. So, the researcher aims at investigating different teachers about the present conditions of using vocabulary exercises. She can puts forward some advice about improving the teaching strategies. On the other hand, the author observed whether students study new knowledge in order to apply to it by having a research or some tests, observing classes, and interviewing teachers. Especially in English teaching classes, vocabulary exercises help students to keep words in mind, and understand flexibly.

This research studies how teachers apply vocabulary exercises to class teaching in junior school. These questions include the use of vocabulary exercises in class, the classification of exercises, students’ reaction and expectation about vocabulary exercises in class. Furthermore, the researcher investigated and collected students and teachers’ opinions about the functions and advantages about vocabulary exercises in class. It is good for teachers to choose the proper teaching ideas, arrange vocabulary exercises in class more wisely, and improve students’ pragmatic ability. 

In this research, the author found that using vocabulary exercises in class to consolidate new words can arouse the enthusiasm of learning English, and give full play to subjective initiative. Besides, it is a good way to combine oral presentation with written words to improve lexical strategies,
