中文摘要：本项目包含两个部分：第一部分是节译报告。自21世纪以来，中国日益融入全球发展的浪潮，与世界文化的交流达到了前所未有的紧密程度。翻译西方文学作品是中国坚持改革开放、与世界文化保持联系、促进中西方文化交流的重要手段。翻译西方文学的难点在于中西方文化背景差异而产生的晦涩难懂的词语和句子。Tide of War的节译采用了数种翻译方法进行翻译，其中含：直译、意译、增译与减译。翻译策略方面则采用归化与异化。另外，尤金·奈达的功能对等理论为本次翻译实践的指导理论。由于文学翻译与应用文翻译的翻译方法存在些许差别，本文也将探讨文学翻译的最佳翻译方法，并讨论了解某一语言及其文化背景的重要性。第二部分是小说Tide of War的节译，小说叙述的是英国海军新晋舰长南森·皮克的故事，南森受命前往加勒比地区接管一艘驱逐舰。
