Abstract
As one of Chinese major cultural soft resources, how to promote Confucian culture to the world, in order that on one hand, the world could know and understand Chinese culture more thoroughly, on the other hand, Chinese cultural soft power could be improved, Chinese comprehensive national strength could be strengthened, and China’s influence in world affairs could be improved, is a significant topic to be solved. In the translation of Confucian culture, many key terms appear frequently. The translation of these key terms plays a decisive role in the translation process.
There are many domestic and foreign scholars making discussions about the translation of key terms in Confucian culture. This paper will revolve around the translation status of key terms in Confucian culture, intending to find out the characteristics of Confucian culture terminology translation. It will help us get a better knowledge of Chinese culture, and deepen the exchanges between the east and west.
This paper can be divided into four parts. Part one is an introduction to the background and significance of the thesis. Part two introduces the key terms in Confucian culture. This part analyzes the category and selection of key terms as well as the reasons for the selection of key terms in Confucian culture. Part three is an analysis of the current study about the translation of key terms in Confucian culture based on different perspectives. This part points out the relationship between the translation quality and translation quantity, content, the religious and cultural background of translators, translation methods, strategies, translation motives, purpose and translation influence. Part four points out the characteristics of the translation of key terms in Confucian culture.
