Abstract: This article summarizes several cases of translation of names of the scenic spots in Nanjing, analyzes and studies the main translation strategies and the reasons that affect them, aims at the improvement of the level of translation and the strengthening the understanding of oversea tourists to the essence of Chinese culture. The auther find about four methods of translation through the analyses of the translation of Nanjing’s scenic spots: transliteration, transliteration plus literal translation, literal translation, and Free Translation. the author stresses that “transliteration plus explanation" will be a suitable method of translation for the names of scenic spots in China, and the qualification of the translators should be emphasized.

摘要:本文选取了南京景点英译名称的若干案例,对其翻译的主要的翻译方法及其影响翻译方法的原因进行一定程度的分析及研究,旨在加强旅游景点英译水平的提高及增强外国游客对中国文化精髓的认识。通过对南京景点英译方法的分析找到了大致四种翻译方法:音译,音译+直译,直译,意译。笔者强调“音译加解释法”最适合运用于中国旅游景点名称的翻译。笔者还强调应重视提高翻译人员的素质。
