Abstract: Foreign affairs’ interpreting is very important for any country and it is quite necessary to back up this field of interpretation with theoretical research. Under this background, this thesis intends to conduct a research and explore into foreign affairs interpretation, with a theoretical framework based on the skopostheorie, a core theory of the German functionalism. The author of this thesis draws a clear picture of foreign affairs’ interpretation in China and finally comes to strategies inspired by skopostheorie for foreign affairs interpreting.

摘要：对外交往的成功开展必然离不开成功的外事翻译。 外事口译对于一个国家一个地区的对外交往具有不言而喻的重要性，因此有必要为其提供理论支撑。本研究以汉英外事口译实践为课题，探讨了功能翻译理论对外事口译实践的指导作用。利用功能翻译理论来指导作为交际行为的外事口译，使其具有较高的科学性和可行性并得出一系列适合中国外事口译发展的交替传译策略。
