Abstract：With the globalization of economics and culture, film has become one of the indispensable entertainments in people’s daily life. Excellent translation of film subtitle not only makes the film more appeal to audience, but also contributes to the cultural communication. As the important medium for information and enjoyment, undoubtedly film subtitle translation is increasingly drawing attention to its quality. Based on Skopos Theory, this thesis takes Pacific Rim, an American film as an example to analyze some translation methods adopted by the translator who aims to produce an appropriate target text, which offers the specific case for the applicability of Skopos Theory in film subtitle translation.
