Abstract:Outside class English reading activity is a very important way of improving the ability of English reading. It plays an important role both in the training of learners’ reading ability and the improvement of English proficiency. Reading comprehension is the most important part in CET- 6 examination, and most of the students consider it is the hardest in the test. This paper attempts to find out the conditions of students in English reading after class by a questionnaire survey, and analyses the results in detail to find out the correlation between the hours and quantity in English reading activities outside class and the reading scores of CET-6. And according to the problems of the students facing in the reading, the author tries to find out some solutions to help the learners to surmount the barriers to the reading and improve their scores.

中文摘要:课外阅读是提高英语阅读能力的一个重要途径, 它对于培养学习者的阅读能力,提高英语综合能力具有重要作用。阅读理解是大学英语六级考试中分值最高也是学生感觉最难的部分,其成绩的高低对学生能否顺利通过六级至关重要。本文通过问卷调查,初步了解我校学生课外阅读的情况并对调查结果进行详细的分析,探讨学生用于课外阅读的时间及量的多少与其在大学英语六级考试中的阅读成绩的相关关系,并根据调查报告中学生遇到的问题,提出了解决问题的方法,帮助学习者克服阅读中的困难,提高考试成绩。
