Abstract:As we all know, the food culture has been especially important in human life since ancient times. We are in a world with the soaring development of the society; human beings are paying more and more attention to diet and pursuing it with high level. The history of Chinese cuisine is very long and deep, so, in order to meet and adapt to the trend of economic globalization and cross-cultural communication, some accurate translation strategies must be used when translating Chinese dishes. In 2008, Chen Yifan analyzed the phenomenon of domestication and foreignization in the English translation of Chinese dishes. This paper explores the domestication and foreignization translation strategies from the examples of English translation of Chinese dishes in current life, and explores the characteristics of Chinese cuisine names, then analyze the practical application of domestication and foreignization translation strategies, from which we can improve the accuracy of the actual application through enhancing the understanding of the use of English translation strategies.
