Abstract
CCTV-News is China’s only 24-hour English language television channel. It provides global audiences with a better understanding of today’s China, while offering a Chinese perspective on international news and current affairs. As China becomes more integrated with the world, some cultural differences become acute. Based on the study of transcripts of Culture Express program on CCTV-News, this essay intends to compare and analyze the linguistic phenomenon from the perspective of intercultural communication, especially the cultural connotation of the words. Also, at the end of the paper, some suggestions have been put forward for more effective communication.
