Abstract:

     Vagueness is an important feature of natural language and also the objective property of language, which makes no prejudice to the communication. As vague can be clarified by verbal and nonverbal means in real communication. The pragmatic use of vagueness in language has aroused great concern of scholars, and the research of it developed rapidly and extends to all areas. So far, the research result of vague phenomenon not only limited in the theoretical level, but also valued by other areas of pragmatic such as education, translation, daily communication and cultural studies and etc. Moreover, these researches about vagueness and their results made a great contribution to the teaching of Chinese and the learning of second language for those whose mother tongue is Chinese. This article made a comparative analysis to English and Chinese languages fuzziness from their voice, vocabulary and sentence structures. Thus, this study also contributes to Chinese-speaking learners of Second Language Acquisition.
