Abstract

This dissertation is based on the studies of second language acquisition and many current motivation theories. As the carrier of culture, language has a close relationship with culture, which, is at the same time considered as the most important part of culture. People must abide a piece of principle----the politeness principle in social language communication. Politeness is the general phenomenon in the society; the basic principle of people’s communication, the tools and means that maintain harmony between social intercourses, the basic condition that realize successful intercommunication, the significant sign of human cultural improvement. However, different languages and cultures mean different expression ways. Thus, to understand deeply the difference and origin of the politeness principle in east and west can promote cultural communication of both sides intercourse, improve communicative ability, and ensure the successful social contact.
