Abstract

 

Language is a bridge which serves as a tool for people to communicate with each other. The ultimate goal of language learning is to apply communicative competence into practice proficiently. In view of the current phenomenon that college students’ communicative language ability is comparatively weak, the dissertation shows internal and external factors which affect college students’ communicative competence. They include lack of language communication environment, poor language knowledge, and monotonic teaching methods, etc. Students are required to adopt strategies such as accumulating conversational materials, overcoming psychological disorders, mastering interpersonal skills and so on to improve their communicative competence.

The main purpose of this dissertation here is to provide some useful suggestions for college students to improve their communicative competence and help them make a solid foundation. Therefore, the problem on how to improve students’ communicative language ability needs to be solved urgently. Only from the root causes of the phenomenon to analyze, can we find the corresponding solutions to solve it.
