Abstract: Spoken language is the basic form of a language. As far as a language’s origin, development and application are concerned, spoken language should be given priority to. However, most of the English major’s oral communication competence is poor, because they have various kinds of difficulties. This paper aims to set forth the principals and means of English oral communication and investigate communication barriers in English oral communication. In this way, the reasons and countermeasures of oral communication barriers will be found to help English learners to overcome difficulties in spoken language communication, so that they will improve the level of spoken language competence.
