中文摘要：美国总统选举是美国政治最重要的重要组成部分，它影响并维持着美国的民主政治。但是，自冷战之后，美国一直占据着世界霸主的地位，控制着世界经济的发展，不断向世界推崇它的民主政治制度。然而，其民主制度的 “民主性”却有待探究，正如陈媛所说，“美国总统选举制度在运转中也出现了一些非民主现象，遭到人民的非议， 深深影响了美国的民主政治。”不过，美国的非民主并没有影响到美国的民主根基。本文主要是介绍美国的总统选举以及其民主政治，并阐述了两者之间的关系，揭示了美国民主政治的一些非民主现象，如选举权掌握在少数人手中，以及选举中的不平等。但是美国却并不承认其民主政治中的非民主因素，且极力向其他国家推崇其民主政治。然而，稍加深入的研究，不难发现美国的民主政治也在不断的深入，选民的权力也在不断的得到保障，美国的总统选举制度在一定程度上体现了美国的民主性，同时也揭示了美国政治中的非民主性。
