Abstract: Works of translation during May Fourth Movement period has been of unusual significance for Chinese language from the level of expression to the level of text. This paper attempts to show how these works of translation influenced Chinese language and how Chinese language restricts the change. Part one introduces the general background at that time and the situation of translators and their works. While Part two is devoted to factors that cause the change of Chinese language. Part three will analyze the changing of Chinese language from the objective side. And Part four will discuss the subjective side which restricts the Chinese from changing. In the course of paper it becomes clear that many factors caused the changing of Chinese language, however, works of translation is the main one to the changing.

摘要：五四时期的翻译作品对中国语言有着至关重要的影响，涉及从单词至篇章等各个方面。本文主要研究翻译作品对中国语言的影响以及中国语言自身对语言变化的限制。第一部分介绍五四时期的背景和翻译的大致情况。第二部分研究影响这一时期语言变化的背景和因素。第三部分将分析翻译作品这一客观因素对语言产生怎样的影响。第四部分着重讨论中国语言本身对其变化的限制。本文简明扼要阐述了造成语言变化的因素，以及翻译作品对语言变化的影响。
