第四章以索菲娅的视角进行叙述，讲述了在一次牛仔竞技比赛后的派对上，索菲娅偶遇卢克，并在其帮助下避开了前男友的纠缠，两人一见倾心。之后，两人同游牧场，并在卢克的卡车上进行了深入的交谈，卢克的帅气和沉稳深深地吸引了索菲娅。分开前，两人都对对方产生了好感，并约定第二天去卢克家的牧场参观、骑马。

INTRODUCTION
The Longest Ride is a love story, published by famous American novelist Nicolas Sparks in 2013. It tells that the university student Sophia and the cowboy Luke met by chance after a cowboy competition, and then they fell in love with each other at first sight. However, their different family background and living environment had caused many conflicts on their future and their own dream. Therefore, their love is also full of difficulties and challenges. In an accident, Sophia and Luke saved a seriously injured man, Ira, and unintentionally heard about the love story between Ira and his deceased wife Ruth. The fetching story which had never been influenced by the war deeply inspired Luke and Sophia to break all obstacles, and have a happy life.
This translation practice extracts the chapter four and chapter five of the novel The Longest Ride to respectively translate the beginning stories of the two couples, enabling readers to further understand the original author’ s interpretation of beautiful love.
From the view of Sophia, the chapter four tells the story that Sophia and Luke met by chance in a party after a cowboy competition. With the help of Luke, Sophia kept away from the entanglement by her ex-boyfriend. Later, they went around the pasture and had a conversation in Luke’s truck. In the end of the encounter, they were all attracted to each other, and decided to make an appointment the next day in Luke’s farm.
The chapter five describes from Ira’s angle of view that he seemed to catch sight of his deceased wife Ruth when he was dizzy and sleepy after the car accident. Ruth comforted him gently, and encouraged him to persevere in life, just like many years ago. They looked back upon dribs and drabs from their acquaintance to their marriage. Even though in the face of war, and Ira had to join the army, Ruth had never gave up their love.
