《那年夏日，重拾自我》主要讲述了主人公在高考后的那个暑假所发生的的事情，主要体现在爱情，友情，以及自我突破，追求新鲜事物的方面。女主梅茜第一次参加聚会偶遇男主麦克，自此两人开始相识相知相爱。但是在此过程中，女主梅茜迷失自我，好在夏天即将过去时，终于又找回自我。
本小说采用记叙的手法，以对话为主要形式，用第一人称的方式讲述主人公在高考后的暑假发生的一系列以爱情，友情为主的经历，故前四章的开篇描写为后期女主人公自我迷失埋下了伏笔。
本次翻译实践选自《那年夏日，重拾自我》的第一至四章。第一章主要讲述了在高考后暑假的某天，好友雪莉鼓动女主梅茜而和她一起参加聚会，因为她们在高中时期没有参加社交活动，所以一直被认为是书呆子。经过一番内心斗争后，梅茜同意和雪莉一起参加聚会，并为参加聚会做准备。
第二章主要讲述梅茜和雪莉一起参加聚会发生的事情。由于与好友雪莉走散，梅茜在寻找过程中偶遇男主麦克。麦克两次提出帮忙寻找雪莉，但是梅茜都拒绝了。最终梅茜独自一人找到好友，返回家后，梅茜不知为何偷偷抽了一根雪莉藏起来的香烟。
第三章主要讲女主和好友收到邀请参加聚会，又遇见男主，并与男主一起喝酒玩游戏，男女主之间的感情进一步发展。
第四章主要讲女主第三次参加聚会又和男主相遇，误会男主与别的女生调情，女主吃醋，喝闷酒后，遭人调戏，幸得男主相救，两人吐露心声，最终确立恋爱关系。
INTRODUCTION
The Summer I Found Myself mainly tells what happened in the summer after heroin attended SAT, involving love, friendship, self-breakthrough and curiousness for new things. It was the first time for Macy to attend party, then Macy met with Mike, naturally they began to know each other and love each other. However, in the process of their love, Macy lost herself. And fortunately, Macy found herself back at the ending of summer.
This novel used the way of narration, and was in the form of dialogue. Besides, it also used in the way of first person to tell a series of heroin’s experience based on love and friendship in summer holiday. So the opening of description of first four chapters paved the way for heroin’s self-lost.

Chapter 2 mainly says that something took place in the party. Due to the separation of her friend Shelly, Macy had to look for her. And in the process of search, Macy came across hero Mike. Although Mike put forward his willing to help, Macy refused his help. Finally, Macy found Shelly by her own. After returning home, there was no reason that Macy smoked a cigarette which was hided by Shelly.
Chapter 3 describes that Macy and Shelly had both been invited to attend party, and Mike also was there. Then they drank beer and played games together, and the relationship between Macy and Mike became closer.
Chapter 4 tells that it was the third time for Macy to attend party and met Mike again, but Macy misunderstood Mike flirting with other girls and became jealous. Then drinking alone, but Macy was molested by a stranger and not match for the stranger. And Fortunately, Mike rescued Macy then they confined each other and established a relationship of love.
