Alice Munro’s latest novel Dear Life tells the story of common person. The protagonist is a young mummy Greta. She is a poet. After married a engineer Peter, they have a daughter Katy. She and her husband have some different in character. Different character caused lots of conflicts and misunderstand in their life. Later in a writers’ party, she met a journalist Harris who has some similarities with her. After they separated, Greta could not forget Harris. After a long period of missing, Greta wanted to go to meet Harris by the chance of helping her friend look after the house. On the train Greta met two actors. She had sex with one of the actors when her daughter was sleeping. When she came back, she found that Katy was missing, she was very worried, looking for Katy everywhere. During that time, self-accusation and mental pain tormented her. She was very regretful. Fortunately she found her daughter and Katy forgave her. At the moment, Greta realized that the essence of life was simple.
